China to control steel product export - 26 Aug, 2008
According to Guangzhou Metal Exchange Center, China is expected to adjust policy for steel product export which rebounded in July. Statistics showed that China's steel product export volume in July increased 1.99 million tonnes from June to reach the record 7.21 million tonnes up by 21.38% YoY.
The Chinese government may adopt measures to further control the growing export of steel products driven by widening price gap between China and abroad, said China Iron & Steel Association recently.
As the ratio of alloy steel product export in the total steel product export went up on-year 15.32 percentage points to 21.74% in the first half year, the export tax rebate for alloy products is likely to be canceled and 15% of export tariff to be levied on long alloy products, predicated some analysts from the steel industry.
