NERC to increase tariffs electricity producers - 25 Aug, 2008
It is reported that the Ukraine’s National Electricity Regulatory Commission has decided to increase tariffs for electricity distributors located in regions ravaged by recent floods.
The Oblenergos concerned are PrykarpattyaOblenergo, ZakarpattyaOblenergo and ChernivtsiOblenergo. The tariff increases range from 6.7% for CHEN’s large customers to 86% for ZOEN’s and will be in place until the end of 2008.
Millennium Capital analyst said that “The magnitude of tariff hikes reflects the level of damage each territory has sustained but also, apparently, the number of large industrial customers capable of providing the revenues necessary to tackle the floods aftermath. LvivOblenergo which has seen its area of operation only partially flooded has received not tariff perks at all. The NERC’s decision is POSITIVE for the three DisCos but puts an additional burden on industrial companies operating in the Oblasts concerned.”
